Can I use it if I’ve never groomed my dog before?

Yes. Every kit comes with The Calm Groom, our free step-by-step guide to your dog’s first groom in 3 days. The brushes need no skill: you brush like you normally would and the loose hair goes into the tank instead of onto your floor. For trimming, clip on a guard and the clipper cuts to that length. Start with the longest guard, work with the direction of the coat and take small passes.

Will brushing and trimming at home mean fewer trips to the groomer?

Usually, yes. Brushing, de-shedding and tidying the face, paws and back end are the jobs most people book a groomer for, and at home they take about 15 minutes. Plenty of owners still book the odd full breed cut and handle everything in between themselves.

Will it work on my dog’s coat, or just the fluffy dogs in the videos?
